Why do we choose glass?
Many people choose crystal over glass for the simple fact of fashion, but what they don’t really know is the way those beautiful crystals are discovered. In Australia unfortunately we don’t have access to many types of crystals and most of the crystals you find in shops are often obtained through human exploitation in third world countries.
Silicone is a porous material which means it will harbour bacteria instead glass is a non-porous material. Plastic and silicone are disposable materials that often will end up in our oceans when they’re no longer needed. Glass instead will last forever and even if you throw it from a fourth floor and you manage to cause a crack, our wands are so beautiful that they will at least serve the purpose of being an ornament.
Tempered glass WON’T shatter. Despite of public perception, the type of glass used to create wands is a high quality glass that won’t break easily, it doesn’t matter if you throw it to the floor or you run over it with a car. You would probably have to use a tank and then, maybe, if you manage to split it, it will never shatter like a window or a drinking glass. These are heavy glass objects created handmade by professionals.

I'm Fae Fleur, a self confessed glass addict.
I have been working with glass for approximately 12 years. Initially with lead-light, but now I focus on slumping and blown glass. I do it before I start work in the mornings, then I sell glass products in a retail outlet. The colours are what gets me and the different techniques that can be used to create a variety of results. The possibilities are endless.
